Reset your password

Reset a forgotten or expired Clyentra password from the login screen, and change a password you still know from your profile.

There are two different jobs here. If you cannot get in, use the reset flow from the login screen. If you can get in and want a new password, use Change Password in your profile. This page covers both.

Reset a password you've forgotten

1. Open the forgot-password page. From the login screen, press Forgot Password?. You land on /forgot-password, headed Forgot Your Password? with the line "Enter your email address and we'll send you a link to reset your password."
2. Enter your email and send. Type the address on the account and press Send Reset Link.
3. Check your inbox. The screen becomes Check your email and reads: "If an account exists with that email, we've sent a password reset link." Open the link from the email.
4. Set the new password. The reset page is headed Reset Your Password. Enter and confirm a new password, then press Reset Password.
5. Sign in again. You see Password reset successfully and a Go to Login button. You are not signed in automatically — go back to the login page and sign in with the new password.

Why the message is vague: Clyentra says "If an account exists with that email…" rather than confirming or denying it. That is deliberate: it stops the reset form being used to discover which addresses have accounts.

The new password must pass all five rules

The reset page uses the same live checklist and strength meter as signup — Weak → Fair → Good → Strong → Very Strong. Every rule must be green before Reset Password will submit.

• At least 8 characters
• At least one uppercase letter
• At least one lowercase letter
• At least one digit
• At least one special character

If the link has expired

Reset links carry an expiry. Open one after it has lapsed and Clyentra shows Reset link expired — "This reset link is no longer valid. Enter your email to receive a new one." Enter your email and press Send New Link. Nothing is lost — you receive a fresh link.

Reset from the device you'll sign in on: Open the emailed link in the browser you actually work in. It saves you re-typing a long generated password across devices.

If your password expired

Clyentra expires passwords after 90 days. When that happens, signing in shows the panel Password Expired: "Your password has expired after 90 days. For security, please reset your password to continue."

The email is already filled in for you. Press Send Password Reset Link, and the panel becomes Reset Link Sent. From there it is the same reset flow described above. See Sign in to Clyentra for the other screens that can block a sign-in.

Change a password you still know

If you are signed in, do not use the reset flow — change the password directly. Go to /profile and open the Security tab. On the right you will find Change Password with the description "Update your password to keep your account secure."

• Current Password — proves it is you.
• New Password — same five rules, same live checklist.
• Confirm New Password — must match.

Above the fields, Clyentra shows a countdown — for example "Your password will expire in 12 days." Watch that number: changing the password before it hits zero saves you a forced reset at the login screen.

Beat the 90-day clock: The countdown in /profile → Security is the only advance warning you get. When it drops into single digits, change the password on your own terms rather than being locked out mid-task.

After a reset, harden the account

If you reset because you suspect someone else had your password, do two more things. Sign out — that invalidates all active sessions, everywhere. Then turn on two-factor authentication, so a stolen password alone is no longer enough. See Two-factor authentication.
